School Performance

New Haven Public Schools recognizes that every school is unique and will follow its own path to excellence.

Schools are scored yearly based on a number of factors. The lowest performers are given additional support for improvement. The system may replace staff, hire charter organizations, or change contract rules.

High- and mid-scoring schools must implement improvement plans and are supported in developing new and innovative ways to enhance student learning.

NHPS is committed to using community feedback to guide its School Change mission. In addition to academic achievement, school performance includes responses to a School Climate Survey given each year to students, teachers, staff, and parents.

To assure accountability on all levels, the NHPS also asks school administrators to rate the support they recieve on the annual Central Office Survey.
