T.A.P.S. Awards Program

Purpose
The T.A.P.S. Awards recognizes and celebrates outstanding teachers, administrators, parents, support staff and community partners that go above and beyond in their efforts to help all students engage in their learning and rise to success. The T.A.P.S. Awards celebrates those in the New Haven Public Schools community who embody the district's core values of collaboration, growth & innovation and equity. The T.A.P.S. Awards also honors those who are dedicated to making their school community better and different for our students and constantly strive to inspire andmotivate students and others of all backgrounds and abilities.

Criteria and Eligibility
The goal of the T.A.P.S. Awards is to recognize and honor the tremendous contributions of outstanding teachers, administrators, parents, support staff and community partners. Another individual may nominate anyone in the preceding categories; no self-nominations are allowed. Those individuals who have been selected as a Finalist for a T.A.P.S. Award cannot be selected within five years of being named a finalist. All nominations are verified in regards to the category indicated on the nomination form before nominations are submitted to the District Scoring Committee.

Process
The members of New Haven Public School community submit nominations for outstanding teachers, administrators, parents, support staff and community partners. The District Scoring Committee (comprised of teachers, administrators, support staff and parents) comes together to score the nominations at the conclusion of the submission window. The nominations are scored twice using a rubric and all identifying information is removed so that nominations are scored blind. After all nominations have been scored the T.A.P.S. Selection Committee compiles the scoring and nominee information for each category. The top six highest scoring individuals in each category are deteremined according to what the District Scoring Committee submitted. The top six individuals in each category are submitted to the Superintendent for review and a determination of Semi-Finalsits and Finalists are made.

Awards and Recognition
Individuals and nomianted will receive notification that they were nominated for the T.A.P.S. Awards. Individuals and partners selected as Semi-Finalists in their category will receive notification and a certificate. Individuals or partners selected as Finalists in their category will be honored at the annual T.A.P.S. Awards Ceremony held at the end of the school year.
