Main Overview:
High School in the Community Academy for Law and Social Justice is a teacher-run school that seeks to develop students into critical thinkers, effective communicators, lifelong learners and responsible citizens. Our students are encouraged to be self-motivated and willing to play an active role in their education and in the community.

Mission and Vision: HSC students engage in an authentic exploration of law, justice, and equity as these topics apply to their lives, communities, and the world at large. Through a demanding program of learning experiences, they master the skills and knowledge necessary to thoughtfully and ably engage the social and political issues at the heart of American and global citizenship.

Mastery-Based Learning and HOT: HSC students enter at the foundation level. As they demonstrate mastery of specific skills, each student will move on to create a program focused on his or her individual needs and goals. A mastery-based education is concerned with the outcomes of learning. Students work towards mastery of the material covered and have multiple opportunities to demonstrate that they have reached the goals and expectations of a 21st Century education through challenging and engaging performance tasks. To support our students as they embark upon this exciting educational path, HSC has also joined forces with Higher Order Thinking (HOT) Schools, a program that facilitates integrating the arts across all academic disciplines.
